Thank you to the CW4WAfghan Kingston organizers for the opportunity to photograph the Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan Annual Fundraising Gala on Friday April 26th. Keynote speaker, Dr. Lauryn Oates, Executive Director, Canadian Women for Women In Afghanistan, Activist and Author talked about "Educating Afghan Girls: The Long Road to Agency". 2019 marked the 10th anniversary of the Shafia Family murders that took place on June 30, 2009 in Kingston, Ontario. Shafia sisters Zainab, 19, Sahar, 17, and Geeti, 13, along with Rona Amir Mohammed, 50 were honoured at this year's CW4WAfghan event.
