Culture Club Mural Project
January/February 2020
The goal of the mural project was to promote multiculturalism at Frontenac Secondary School (FSS) in Kingston Ontario.
With the help of senior art students I helped Culture Club students create designs that reflected the different cultures at FSS. Designs were painted onto large murals to be displayed around the school. I was able to help students brainstorm ideas, complete and transfer designs onto larger pieces of masonite and begin painting. Unfortunately I did not get to see the finished murals before the schools shut down due to COVID 19. Thanks to the students for their willingness to share their unique backgrounds and Danny Lalonde, FSS Head of Students Services for the opportunity. to work on such a special project. It was a wonderful experience to learn about different cultures and work alongside students through the creative process.
