Portraits, Self-Portraits & Selfies

I gave a presentation on Portraits, Self-Portraits and Selfies to a group of students at Agnes Etherington Art Centre in Kingston Ontario. I showed examples of painted portraits throughout history as well as examples of photographic portraits and self portraits. My talk culminated in a discussion about the less traditional form of self portraiture; the selfie. I talked about the importance of composing a shot, taking advantage of available light and tips on using phone cameras. Thanks to Ann Blake, coordinator for Beyond Classrooms Kingston, a KAM (Kingston Association of Museums, Galleries and Historic Sites) for the opportunity.
